Theo Walcott put the Gunners ahead after 18 minutes when his volley took a deflection off Ashley Cole and beat Petr Cech.

Walcott, 20, scored his first Arsenal goal as part of a youthful side which was eventually beaten by Chelsea in the 2007 Carling Cup final at the Millennium Stadium.
